I came across Dr Suess story ‘Horton Hatches the egg’ and this story illustrates this point so well.

Horton is an elephant that ends up in a tree sitting on a birds nest for 51 weeks through the most incredible trials and he sees the task through to the end. Horton made a decision to help the lazy bird get a break and enjoy some rest.

Horton made a definite and deliberate decision to help the lazy bird out. He took into account his immense size and prepared the tree to withstand his weight and carefully sat on the nest for 51 weeks!

Horton very likely knew and took into account that he would face all sorts of troubles and very likely be misunderstood by his friends. But Horton knew who he was and believed in himself.

Horton ended up going through all sorts of trials and tribulations, including his very life being threatened. He went through many emotions, many discomforts and many challenges. Horton persevered through all four seasons! Horton was all in 100% what kept Horton going was his affirmation and belief in himself and who he was.

He said to himself, “That he meant what he said and he said what he meant that an elephant is faithful one hundred percent.” Horton repeated this many times!

Horton believed in himself one hundred percent and received his reward even though the outcome ended up in an unexpected way and was more than Horton could have believed he would receive.
